Ramadhan Ntafu’s 13th-minute strike was all Creck Sporting needed to secure a long-awaited home revenge at Aubrey Dimba Stadium after a month away from home.
Frank Phiri delivered a well-taken corner that found Ntafu, whose powerful header beat the Karonga United goalkeeper to give Creck Sporting an early lead.
Ntafu and Gift Kadawati later had several chances that could have extended the advantage, but they were unable to convert. Despite the missed opportunities, Creck Sporting dominated the entire match.
Karonga United were reduced to 10 men after Lovemore Ngolombe received a second yellow card for a dangerous challenge on Ntafu.
Taking advantage of the numerical superiority, Creck Sporting introduced Stain Patrick, George Chaomba, Patrick Macheso, Kondwani Chilembwe and Hassan Hussein. Hussein was later forced off after picking up an injury.
With five minutes left on the clock, Chilembwe missed a golden chance to seal the victory, sending his effort over the bar.
Assistant Coach Harrison Saidi praised the team’s display, highlighting their hunger and focus from the first whistle.
“At all cost we needed this victory. The boys couldn’t forget what happened in Karonga, so they fought hard to revenge. But what matters most is the performance, very impressive.” He said.
Creck Sporting will return to action on 29th November as we face Kamuzu Barracks at Champions Stadium, according to the league fixture schedule.
