Frank Phiri’s efforts weren’t enough to revive Creck Sporting’s campaign in the Castel Challenge Cup, as the team suffered a 1-3 defeat at home to Goshen City Dedza Dynamos.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 17th minute following a defensive lapse, before adding a second goal just seconds before halftime. Dedza completed their scoring on the 55th minute to make it 3-0.
In response, Coach Kananji made several tactical changes in an attempt to spark a comeback.
Jackson Beza, Ademola Ajibola, Kondwani Chilembwe, Ramadan Ntafu, and Babangida Ishaya replaced Kiyama, Lifa, Nasiyaya, Chaomba, and Jauma, injecting fresh attacking options.
Creck Sporting managed to pull one back through Frank Phiri with just eight minutes remaining.
Ademola Ajibola, in particular, stood out for his stability and aggression in midfield, but the team ultimately lacked the cutting edge upfront to turn the game around.
After the match, Coach Kananji expressed his disappointment:
“Very disappointing result and this is not what I expected. We had good preparation ahead of this game, but what happened here was different. Anyway, our season is over, and we are out. We will come back stronger next season.”
With this defeat, Creck Sporting’s journey in the Castel Challenge Cup 2026 comes to an end, marking the close of a trophy-less season.
