Creck Sporting head coach Eliya Kananji has praised his players for their character and resilience following an emphatic 4–2 comeback victory over Ekhaya FC at Aubrey Dimba Stadium.
Kananji described the win as a deserved reward for the hard work the team has been putting in, especially after conceding early in the match.
“It is the first time we have won a match from behind. In the past, when we conceded, we struggled to come back and fight for a win. But today the spirit was different. It was a must-win game for us,” said Kananji.
The coach commended his players for remaining focused, sticking to the game plan, and showing fighting spirit to turn the contest around.
He added that the performance will help the team maintain momentum as we push to win the remaining fixtures.
“This is the kind of performance we lacked in the previous two games. With this type of display, there is hope of finishing in the top eight if we win the remaining two matches,” he noted.
Kananji also highlighted the team’s mentality after going a goal down, describing the response as a sign of growing belief within the squad.
“The boys showed great mentality and belief. Conceding first and responding the way we did speaks volumes about their character,” he said.
The coach applauded the attacking display and composure in front of goal, stressing that the victory was important for boosting confidence and building consistency going forward.
Creck Sporting’s comeback win also served as sweet revenge, having lost 1–0 to Ekhaya FC in the first round of the season.
Reflecting on scoring four league goals against Ekhaya, Kananji said it was evidence of the team’s gradual improvement.
“It shows that the improvements we are working on are taking effect. With time, the team will be able to score even more goals,” he added.
He reserved special praise for Patrick Mupanzi, who delivered a stunning hat-trick.
” He is a top striker and I believe in him. We missed him in the past three games, but it’s great to have him back and scoring three goals against Ekhaya. I am very happy,”said Kananji.
Creck Sporting now turn their attention to an away fixture against Dedza Dynamos before wrapping up their league campaign against MAFCO on 27 December.
