Head Coach Eliya Kananji has admitted that Creck Sporting’s midweek away fixture against Mighty Wanderers will be a tough challenge, considering the Nomads’ current form in the league.

This will be our third meeting with Wanderers this season (one league and one friendly already played), with both encounters ending in narrow 1-0 defeats. Wednesday’s clash at Balaka Stadium will also mark our first competitive appearance at the venue this season.

Playing Wanderers won’t be easy. Their performance is driven by hunger for the championship. They play with more intensity, but with our preparations everything is set, and we are good to go,” said Kananji.

Reflecting on last week’s 0-0 stalemate against Civil Service United, the gaffer described it as one of the most intense games this season and a valuable lesson for his squad.

That tells you it was a big game, and though we only managed a point, I took positives from every player who featured. We’ll apply those lessons as we face Wanderers on Wednesday,” added Kananji.

He further previewed that the team is expected to improve in counter-attacks compared to the Civil game, with hopes of translating chances into goals and maximum points.

Creck Sporting also lost 1-0 to Wanderers in the first round at Champions Stadium, with Francisco Madinga scoring the decisive goal for the visitors.

Wanderers are coming from a 1-0 victory over Mafco at Champions Stadium, courtesy of a Blessings Mwalilino strike. They currently sit top of the table with 38 points from 16 games.

Creck Sporting stand at 10th position with 19 points from the same number of games.
