Creck Sporting Reserves Face Chimbiya Stars Again in CRFA National Bank Championship

Creck Sporting Reserves will, for the third time, face Chimbiya Stars in the CRFA National Bank Championship following a draw conducted on Wednesday at the Central Region Football Association (CRFA) offices in Lilongwe.

The knockout competition brings together 16 teams drawn from district leagues and the CRFA TVM Division One League. The teams will battle through the regional playoffs, with only one side advancing to represent the Central Region at the national level.

Creck Reserves have been handed a home advantage in the opening round. The winner between Creck Reserves and Chimbiya Stars will progress to face either Dedza Soccer Saints or Ergo, who are paired in another first-round fixture.

This season, Creck Reserves played to a goalless draw away to Chimbiya Stars before suffering a 2–1 defeat at home, setting up an intriguing rematch between the two sides.

Despite failing to secure promotion from the CRFA TVM Division One League to the Chipiku Premier League, Creck Reserves have vowed to push hard in the competition with ambitions of reaching the national stage.

The overall winner of the inaugural tournament for lower-league teams will walk away with a grand prize of K10 million.

The National Bank Championship, worth a total of K500 million nationwide, is being hosted for the first time by National Bank of Malawi in collaboration with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), marking a significant boost for grassroots football development across the country.

Dates and venues will be announced in due course
