Despite the setback in Mzuzu, Creck Sporting head coach Eliya Kananji believes his side will bounce back and return to winning ways when they host Ekhaya FC on Wednesday afternoon.
Creck Sporting will welcome Ekhaya FC at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in a second-round TNM Super League encounter, with both sides battling for crucial maximum points in the midweek assignment.
Speaking ahead of the match, Kananji admitted that the recent defeats against army sides Kamuzu Barracks and Moyale Barracks were disappointing but described them as valuable lessons in the teamโs journey this season.
โWe needed the points. We know we are not in the best moment and the performances have not been good enough,โsaid Kananji. โPlaying back home is important for us. My boys are aware that this is a chance to make amends for the first-round defeat and get maximum points. Our target of finishing in the top eight this season has not changed.โ
The Creck gaffer further noted that the performances in the last two matches did not reflect the teamโs level of preparation, branding them as some of their poorest outings this campaign.
However, Kananji expects a tough contest against Ekhaya, who are also going through a difficult run of form.
Ekhaya FC come into the fixture on the back of a 2โ0 defeat to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, marking their third consecutive loss after narrow defeats to Mighty Wanderers (1โ0) and Silver Strikers (1โ0). They currently sit seventh on the log with 39 points, six points and four places above Creck Sporting.
In the first-round meeting, Creck Sporting suffered a narrow 1โ0 defeat despite creating numerous chances late in the match.
