Creck Sporting has made history with the first-ever victory in the Southern Region Football League, defeating Mighty Tigers 2-1 in a thrilling contest.


This landmark win marks a significant milestone for the club since gaining promotion into the elite league.


The breakthrough came early, just five minutes into the match, when Patrick Mupanzi unleashed a stunning volley to give Crecks the lead and inject intensity into the team’s performance.

However, Tigers equalized later in the first half from the penalty spot after Chigaula was adjudged to have pulled down an opponent inside the 18-yard box.


The first half ended 1-1, setting up a tense second period.


As the game progressed, both sides launched promising attacks, with the home team (Tigers) pressing more aggressively in search of a lead.


Coach Kananji’s tactical substitutions proved decisive, introducing fresh legs in Hassan Hussein, George Chaomba, Ademola Ajibola, Ramadan Ntafu, and Harvey Nasiyaya, who all fought hard to swing the match in Crecks’ favour.


The winning moment arrived with just nine minutes left on the clock, when Jauma Edward delivered a perfect ball into the box. George Chaomba made no mistake, finishing clinically to seal the historic 2-1 win.


Chaomba and Hussein continued to press forward, creating more opportunities to extend the lead. Hassan Hussein, who was introduced just five minutes before halftime, impressed with his high work rate and attacking threat earning him the Man of the Match award for his standout performance.


This victory is not just three points it’s a statement. Creck Sporting have now written the name into the history books with the first win in the top flight, a result that reflects the team’s growing confidence and tactical maturity.


Mupanzi’s goal was his first in the league. Chaomba’s finish marked his second of the season.
