“It Was Really Tough, My Boys Did Well” – Kananji
Creck Sporting head coach Eliya Kananji has described Sunday’s goalless draw against Chitipa United as a hard-fought battle, admitting that the performance wasn’t up to our usual standards.
Despite the point earned, Kananji acknowledged that playing in a new and challenging environment affected his team’s rhythm.
“It wasn’t our usual play,In the first half, the boys lacked confidence maybe due to the crowd and the fact that it was our first time here. They had a different approach, and that put them under pressure.”
Kananji applauded the team’s spirit and fighting mentality, especially considering it was our first-ever appearance at Chitipa Stadium recently approved by the Football Association of Malawi to host official matches.
When asked about the substitutions, bringing on Miracle Gabeya, Frank Phiri, Stain Patrick, George Chaomba, and Hassan Hussein,Kananji emphasized his intention to go for the win.
“What we needed was to score first and force them to respond. That’s why I focused on strengthening the midfield and frontline rather than defending. I believe we’ll do better in the next one.”
The coach concluded by thanking his players for their effort, noting the importance of adapting to new environments like Chitipa.
“Considering it was our first time playing here, I appreciate the boys’ effort. They showed character.”
Our attention now turns to the next challenge as we gear up for another away fixture this time against Karonga United in Karonga.
