As we welcome Mzuzu City Hammers on Sunday at Aubrey Dimba, head coach Eliya Kananji has described the teams preparations as a step for victory.

We are going into this match with fourteen points from twelve games played, displaced from position nine(9) this week following a 1 all draw between Silver Strikers and Mafco on Thursday.

The team has also welcomed back experienced Skipper Miracle Gabeya who has been serving a three match ban from Football Association of Malawi.

Frank Phiri has been ruled out due to a knee injury he suffered during Friday’s training session.

“The team missed his services ,with his technical ability and maturity to manage the defense, it’s something that adds up the compactness as well.” Said The Gaffar.

On Frank Phiri; ” Doctors will still have to assess him one more time but I believe with the time,he will not make it for this game.”

The coach further credited the boys for a spirited performance during the training sessions as we head towards the Sundays encounter against the Mzuzu based outfit.

“A very brilliant and promising performance, so composed and adhering to the our tactical philosophy, I am really positive enough that we are going into this game with a good winning mentality”.

After having a rehabilitation from his injury since March this year, Gift Kadawati has also been included.

Kananji said the Striker is completely fit and ready for the showdown.

On the importance of getting three points, he has highlighted how the team needs to get maximum points at home considering the current position. “We need to score more goals as well”.

Last season the team collected a point from the two meetings with the same team. We lost 2-1 at Civo stadium before a draw in the return fixture. Mzuzu City Hammers are coming from a 1-0 Defeat against Mighty Tigers.

They’re on position fifteen on the standings with 8 points from 10 games played.
