Creck Sporting Club were held to a goalless draw by 10-man Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday afternoon in a tightly contested TNM Super League match played at the Aubrey Dimba Stadium.
Despite dominating large spells of the game and creating clear-cut chances, we failed to find the breakthrough, settling for a point that sees the team climbing to 14th on the log with five points from six games.
Deploying a classic 4-4-2 formation, interim head coach Harry Saidi’s side started with pressing high and showing early signs of ambition. Strikers Hassan Hussein and George Chaomba spearheaded the attack with energy and urgency, testing the visitors’ defence in the opening minutes.
Kamuzu Barracks responded strongly after the half-hour mark, applying pressure of their own. However, Creck’s backline, marshalled expertly by captain Hardy Ng’andu, held firm. Ng’andu’s leadership and defensive reading were standout features, keeping the visitors at bay and later voted player of the match, reaching third accolade for our skipper this season.
The turning point of the match came in the second half when KB’s Sheinton Mhango was shown a second yellow card and subsequently sent off, reducing the visitors to ten men.
Creck pushed forward with greater intensity. Wingers Dalitso Nahipa and Stain Patrick provided width and pace, while Patrick Mupanzi also brought the attacking spark.

Despite the numerical advantage, Creck were unable to capitalise. Twice, George Chaomba and Hassan Hussein went close to scoring, only to see their efforts hit the side netting, leaving home fans frustrated.
Goalkeeper Brighton Munthali, who has recently stepped up in form, recorded his second clean sheet of the season.
His calm presence and late saves were crucial in preserving the draw and adding to the team’s growing defensive discipline.
Speaking after the match, interim coach Saidi reflected on the result:
“We’ve missed a lot of chances. We created a lot but the confidence from the boys matters. We are coming from a 1-0 defeat just two days ago, so somehow pressure also affected our play. We wanted to find an early lead from both ends, but generally it wasn’t bad to get a point though we are pushing to move from where we are on the standings,” he said.
We now turn their attention to another crucial home fixture as we prepare to host newly promoted Songwe Border United this coming Sunday at the same venue.
