Following the Malawi national team’s recent elimination from the 2025 COSAFA Championship in South Africa, domestic league action resumes this weekend.

Our focus now shifts to a crucial encounter as we travel to southern Region to face Ekhaya FC at Kamuzu Stadium this Saturday afternoon.

This highly anticipated fixture marks a significant milestone for Creck Sporting Club, as it will be Eliya Kananji’s first league assignment since taking the reins as head coach two weeks ago. Kananji steps into the seat with the team in respectable form, having secured seven points from our last three games.

The recent run includes a hard-fought draw against KB, followed by a convincing victory over Songwe Border United at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji, thanks to first-half goals from Hardy Ng’andu and Hassan Hussein.

Creck’s momentum continued in Chitowe, where we staged an impressive comeback to defeat Salima-based soldiers, MAFCO, 2-1. Frank Phiri broke the deadlock for Creck, before Hassan Hussein netted his second crucial goal, securing the lead that the team held until the final whistle.

Saturday’s clash will be the first-ever league meeting between Ekhaya FC and Creck Sporting Club. The two sides, however, face each other in a separate fixture during the Sapitwa 4 tournament in Mulanje earlier this March.

Ekhaya FC enters this game on the back of a goalless draw against Blue Eagles in their away fixture at Nankhaka, played just before the international break. They currently sit comfortably in third position on the league standings with thirteen points.

Creck Sporting, meanwhile, comes into the match with eleven points from eight games played so far.

Our Head Coach Eliya Kananji expressed optimism heading into his top-flight debut with the Creck’s

He drew encouragement from last week’s friendly match against Wanderers, highlighting a good display from his squad and anticipating a strong performance in this historic first league encounter against Ekhaya.

In terms of squad news, Kananji has bolstered his options by including fresh legs in Jackson Beza and Dalitso Nahipa.

Additionally, Patrick Mupanzi returns to the squad after missing the MAFCO game due to illness. However, Creck will be without Miracle Gabeya and Stain Patrick, both suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.

A further blow sees Hadji Wali, Gift Kadawati, Andrew Bisika, Peter Godfrey, and Ganizani Kapuchi all sidelined as they continue to nurse injuries.

Fans can secure their tickets and follow the proceedings from all our official channels for live updates.
