Creck Sporting head coach Eliya Kananji has expressed disappointment with the outcome of their 1-1 draw against Mzuzu City Hammers, citing the hosts’ overly physical approach and questionable officiating.
“They were hard and too physical on the ball, they really frustrated us. My boys’ morale went down because they feared injuries,”said Kananji after the match.
The coach added that Mzuzu’s style of play made it difficult for Creck Sporting to execute the usual game plan.
“With their approach, we couldn’t translate our play into the team’s philosophy. It really affected our rhythm throughout the game,” he noted.
Reacting to the missed opportunities, Kananji attributed the team’s loss of rhythm partly to poor officiating.
“I sometimes don’t comment on officiating, but today’s personnel were too biased. The boys couldn’t stick to instructions because they were frustrated. Anyway, a point taken we’ll focus on the remaining eight games and aim to do better,” said the gaffer.
Creck Sporting took the lead through captain Frank Phiri, who calmly converted a penalty after Kondwani Chilembwe was fouled inside the box.
Phiri’s goal takes his tally to three this season.
