Creck Sporting suffered their first defeat of the second round in the TNM Super League following a narrow 2–1 loss to Silver Strikers at Silver Stadium.
The hosts took the lead through a controversial penalty, awarded after referee Easter Zimba ruled that Hardy Ng’andu had fouled Andrew Joseph inside the box.
Creck Sporting responded quickly before halftime, with Patrick Mupanzi finding the equalizer after a well-built team move with an assist from Anold Son Kiyama.
Despite dominating large spells of the game, Creck conceded late when Uchizi Vunga struck eight minutes from time to hand Silver all three points.
Head Coach Eliya Kananji expressed disappointment with the outcome, saying his side deserved more from the match.
“We outclassed them in both halves but our timing towards the end was poor. We just gave them a goal for nothing. Our decision cost us at the back. But all in all it was about fatigue. We had only yesterday after playing a crucial game, anyway we accepted it ” Kananji lamented.
Following the result, Creck Sporting sit 10th on the standings with 25 points from 21 matches.
The team will now have a two-week break before returning to league action.
