Head Coach Eliya Kananji has made a bold and historic mark by guiding his team to the first-ever victory at Kamuzu Stadium, defeating Mighty Tigers 2-1 in a tightly contested match.

Kananji expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the number of chances created and the overall positive approach throughout the game.

I knew the team had never won a match in Blantyre. I came here with one mission to make history and earn maximum points. This is mission accomplished, and we have done it,”said the gaffer with pride.

The coach further reflected on the team’s determination, especially after going four matches without a win managing just four points from a possible twelve. He praised the resilience and fighting spirit that led to this turnaround.

Particularly, Kananji singled out Hassan Hussein, who was named Man of the Match, for his outstanding performance.

The boy has really shown this even in training, he has the ability to take on defenders. I trusted that from his introduction, he would do something special for us.”

Looking ahead, Kananji believes the momentum from this significant win will inspire the team in our next crucial fixture, the FDH Cup quarter-final clash against Mighty Wanderers on Sunday.

This win gives us a strong foundation and belief. We will carry this fighting mentality into the next match.”
